GUNMA (TR) – Sources inform TBS News (Nov. 25) that Maebashi City mayor Akira Ogawa intends to resign amid revelations that she engaged in secret resort conferences with a married male subordinate.
At round 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Ogawa submitted her letter of resignation to Maebashi City Council Chairman Kimitaka Tomita.
The letter stated that her resignation was efficient on Thursday. It was accepted by the chairman.
As beforehand reported, Ogawa is single. She admitted to visiting inns with the married male worker greater than 10 occasions, however defined that there was no romantic relationship.
“It is true that I visited a hotel multiple times with the employee,” she stated. “Though there was no romantic relationship, I deeply regret my reckless actions, which has led to misunderstandings.”
At 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the Maebashi City Council will maintain a gathering with representatives from every faction to debate future responses.
