Japan’s inhabitants declines for 14 years in a row

TOKYO, Jul 26 (NHK) –
Japan’s inhabitants stood at over 122.42 million on January 1, down about 800,000 from the earlier 12 months, and the most important drop since record-taking started in 1968.

The variety of births final 12 months totaled about 771,000, the bottom because the survey started in 1979, whereas the variety of deaths was a report excessive of over 1.56 million.

Natural inhabitants decline, which is calculated by deducting the variety of births from the variety of deaths, has elevated for 15 years in a row.

By prefecture, Tokyo was probably the most populous with about 13.26 million. Tottori had the smallest inhabitants of about 541,000.

Population decreased in all 47 prefectures for the primary time.

The variety of international residents of Japan stood at greater than 2.99 million. It was the primary rise in three years, and the best because the survey started in 2013. The numbers rose in all prefectures.
