TOKYO, April 2 (Xinhua) — Renowned Japanese composer and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto has died on the age of 71, his company reported Sunday.
The award-winning artist handed away on March twenty eighth, in accordance with an announcement by Japan’s report label Avex.
“While undergoing treatment for cancer diagnosed in June 2020, Sakamoto continued to create works in his home studio whenever his health would allow,” stated the announcement on the official web site of the corporate.
Also a member of the digital music band Yellow Magic Orchestra, generally known as YMO, Sakamoto was greatest identified for his work as a movie composer.
He grew to become the primary Japanese winner of the Academy Award for Best Original Score for “The Last Emperor” in 1988.
