Japan, US maintain joint drills with Anti-ship missiles, HIMARS: Reports

Tokyo [Japan], August 31 (ANI/Sputnik): Japan’s Ground Self-defense Force and the US military held joint navy workout routines to defend Japan’s distant southwestern island of Amami Oshima, the Kyodo news company reported on Wednesday.

Japanese ground-to-ship missiles, the so-called Type 12 anti-ship missiles, and the US-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) took half within the workout routines.

The Japanese Defence Ministry is engaged on modifying the Type 12 missiles to extend their flight vary to allow them to grow to be a part of a system that permits concentrating on enemy bases whereas staying exterior the attain of its weapons .

The drills are part of the common joint US-Japanese workout routines referred to as Orient Shield and will probably be held till Saturday, based on the news company.
