Japan Team Holds Ceremony One Month Before Asian Games

Japan’s delegation for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held a crew formation ceremony at a resort in Tokyo on August 19, precisely one month earlier than the competitors opens, with wrestler Akari Fujinami pledging that the athletes would “fight through to the very end” on residence soil.

Princess Kako, the second daughter of Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, attended the ceremony.

Fujinami, 22, who will function Japan’s flag bearer on the opening ceremony, delivered an announcement of dedication on behalf of the delegation.

“On this special stage of competing in our own country, I pledge that together with my teammates, we will fight through to the very end,” Fujinami mentioned.
