TOKYO, twenty second October, 2026 (WAM) — Japan’s commerce deficit widened to 536.5 billion yen in September as imports grew sooner than exports, in keeping with preliminary information launched by the Ministry of Finance.
Japanese exports rose 16.7 % from a 12 months earlier to 10.9723 trillion yen, whereas imports elevated 18.9 % to 11.5088 trillion yen.
Exports rose for the thirteenth consecutive month, supported by robust demand for semiconductors and chip-making gear.
