JERUSALEM, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — Israel and Japan took one match every on Day 1 of the 2023 Davis Cup World Group I tie on Saturday.

The best-of-five tie happened on an indoor hardcourt on the Shlomo Group Arena within the Israeli coastal metropolis of Tel Aviv.

Japan’s prime racket Sho Shimabukuro, at present 146th within the ATP world rankings, gained the primary match, 6-4, 7-6(5) towards world No. 470 Yshai Oliel.
