Iran Arrests Japan Public Broadcaster’s Bureau Chief In Tehran

Iran has arrested the bureau chief of Japan’s public broadcaster, NHK World, and transferred him to Tehrans infamous Evin Prison, two sources instructed RFE/RL’s Radio Farda.

It is unclear when Shinnosuke Kawashima was arrested or the costs in opposition to him, though sources mentioned he was taken to Evin Prison on February 23.

Kawashima is being held in Ward 7 of Evin Prison, the place political prisoners are often incarcerated, one of many sources mentioned.

NHK didn’t instantly reply to Radio Farda’s request for remark. Iranian officers haven’t introduced the arrest of Kawashima, who beforehand served as NHK’s bureau chief inJakarta.
