Indian, Japanese troops share expertise in unarmed fight strategies

Tokyo [Japan], February 24 (ANI): The troops of the Indian Army and Japanese Ground Self Defence Forces shared their expertise and experience in sub-conventional operations and unarmed fight strategies through the ongoing joint coaching in Japan.

India-Japan joint coaching train “Dharma Guardian” is being carried out at Camp Imazu within the Shiga province of Japan from February 17 to March 2.

The Ministry of Defence in a press launch mentioned that Exercise “Dharma Guardian” would additional improve the extent of defence cooperation between the Indian Army and Japanese Ground Self Defence Forces, furthering the bilateral ties between the 2 nations.

It is the fourth version of the joint navy Exercise “Dharma Guardian” between India and Japan. The scope of the India-Japan joint coaching train covers platoon-level joint coaching on operations in jungle and semi-urban/city terrain.

The troops of the Garhwal Rifles Regiment of the Indian Army and an Infantry Regiment from the Middle Army of the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force (JGSDF) participated within the joint coaching train.

During the joint train, the armies of the 2 nations are sharing experiences gained throughout operations to bolster interoperability in planning and execution.

“Notably, in the series of military training exercises undertaken by India with various countries, Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN which is an annual training event with Japan, is crucial and significant in terms of security challenges faced by both nations in the backdrop of the current global situation,” the Ministry of Defence mentioned within the press launch.

The Indian Army contingent arrived in Japan to take part within the train “Dharma Guardian” on February 12, the place they acquired a heat reception.
