Bangkok [Thailand], March 30 (ANI): India have been positioned in Group D of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup Thailand 2023, which was introduced on the draw ceremony of the match, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday.
India have been drawn in opposition to Japan, Vietnam and Uzbekistan in Group D of the match.
Head coach Bibiano Fernandes mentioned, “We are all excited with the group that we bought on the draw. We might be dealing with some high quality opponents, and the boys are actually trying ahead to it. Every footballer at each stage desires to play in opposition to the very best, and Japan are definitely the most effective in Asia.
“Our previous batches have of course played against the teams like Uzbekistan and Vietnam, and we have had some good results against them, so we are very hopeful to reach our goal, which is to be the first Indian team to qualify for the (FIFA U-17) World Cup,” he mentioned.
The prime two groups from every group will progress to the knockout levels, which encompass the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and remaining. The 4 groups that make it to the semi-finals will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Peru 2023.
The AFC U-17 Asian Cup, which is about to start on June 15, might be held throughout 4 venues – Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok, Thammasat Stadium and BG Stadium, Pathum Thani, and Chonburi Stadium, Chonburi.
