The NHK All-Japan Tanka Contest was held in Shibuya, Tokyo to introduce excellent works submitted by tanka enthusiasts across the country.
Saitama Prefecture’s Sayuri Kamiya (61)’s “A child who knows the meaning of remarriage and a child who doesn’t open a sand tunnel” is a work that depicts an incident when the author worked at a nursery school. It was evaluated that it expresses that there are people with different backgrounds, and at the same time, finds the hope that relationships can be built even if there are differences in the environment in which they grew up.
