TOKYO, June 23 (Xinhua) — Twin big pandas Xiao Xiao and Lei Lei, each born in Japan, turned two on Friday at Tokyo’s Ueno Zoological Gardens.
Many followers flocked to the zoo even earlier than opening time to have a good time the dual cubs’ birthday on Friday, taking footage of them, and cheering on the two enjoying collectively and sharing a bamboo stick.
“I was happy to see them stick together. I want to continue to see them,” Seiko Mizobuchi, a 53-year-old housewife from Tokyo’s Setagaya Ward, was quoted by native media as saying.
Born in June 2021 on the zoo, male cub Xiao Xiao and his sister Lei Lei appeared to the general public for the primary time with their mom Shin Shin in January final yr.
Since March, Xiao Xiao and Lei Lei have been residing away from their mom.
Naoya Ohashi, chief of the zoo’s training division, mentioned that he felt “grateful as (the cubs) have grown without problems,” Jiji Press reported.
