On the ninth, the 78th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Mayor Shiro Suzuki, a second-generation survivor of the atomic bombing, learn out a peace declaration at a ceremony to hope for peace within the metropolis of Nagasaki.
Mayor Suzuki launched the phrases left by A-bomb survivor Ryosuke Taniguchi, saying, “I fear that oblivion will flow into a new affirmation of the atomic bombing.” And he appealed to the leaders of the nuclear-weapon states and people underneath the nuclear umbrella, “Now is the time to have the courage to decide to move away from dependence on nuclear deterrence.”
