TOKYO –
A former member of Japan’s weightlifting workforce on the Tokyo Olympics was arrested after allegedly stealing eggs and different gadgets from a comfort retailer and injuring an worker who confronted him, investigative sources stated.
Toshiki Yamamoto, 34, a former weightlifter who’s now self-employed, was caught within the act on August 1 at a comfort retailer in Tokyo’s Kita Ward, in response to the sources.
Yamamoto allegedly stole a carton of eggs and different merchandise earlier than pushing a male worker who tried to cease him. The worker fell onto the road and suffered a fractured finger.
Yamamoto has partially denied the allegations, reportedly telling investigators that he didn’t use violence.
Yamamoto represented Japan within the males’s 96-kilogram weightlifting competitors on the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
