Firefighters extinguish vacant home fireplace in Globeville on Christmas evening

Denver firefighters responded to a home on Thursday evening that was “fully involved” in a hearth, extinguishing the blaze within the Globeville neighborhood in lower than quarter-hour.

Division Chief of Operations Robert Murphy stated the home, at forty third Avenue and Cherokee Street, was vacant and nobody was injured within the fireplace.

The Denver Fire Department bought the decision on a one-alarm blaze round 8:40 p.m. Christmas evening, Murphy stated, and 7 vans and emergency autos responded to the scene.

“There was nobody there when we got there,” he stated. “We started attacking from the outside. There are still parts of the house standing, but it’s going to have to come down.”
