TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested Amuru, a former top-tier sumo wrestler from Russia, and a male acquaintance over the alleged rape of a lady in Shibuya Ward earlier this 12 months, studies NHK (July 14).
On the night time of April 5, Amuru, whose actual title is Nikolay Ivanov, and his acquaintance, 34-year-old Alisher Ergashevich Ochilov from Uzbekistan, are alleged to have sexually assaulted the lady, aged in her 30s, inside a non-public room at a karaoke parlor.
They additionally allegedly robbed her of 40,000 yen.
Police didn’t reveal whether or not the suspects admitted to allegations of non-consensual sexual activity and theft upon their arrests on Sunday.
Prior to the incident, the suspects met the lady at a bar. They then invited her to the karaoke parlor.
In 2002, Amuru made his sumo debut. He moved to the elite makuuchi division in 2014. Before his retirement in 2018, he reached fifth place within the high maegashira division.
