Kuril Island [Russia], July 31 (ANI): An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 struck east of the Kuril Islands on Thursday, a press release by the National Center for Seismology (NCS) mentioned.
As per the assertion, the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km, making it prone to aftershocks.
In a publish on X, the NCS mentioned, ‘EQ of M: 6.5, On: 31/07/2025 10:57:14 IST, Lat: 49.51 N, Long: 158.75 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: East of Kuril Islands.’

Earlier on Wednesday, one other earthquake of magnitude 6.3 struck the Kuril Islands at a depth of 10 km.
