SEOUL, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) — The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) condemned the latest navy provocations by the United States and its allies, and clarified its stance of exercising the precise to self-defense in response, state media stated Friday, citing a press assertion by the nation’s Foreign Ministry.
The assertion, carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, denounced the U.S. navy strikes this month of sending strategic reconnaissance planes and strategic bombers over the Korean Peninsula in addition to holding a trilateral air drill with Japan and South Korea and a joint air stay firing drill with South Korea.
The U.S. political and navy provocations are “the direct root cause of inciting the danger of armed conflict and disturbing the regional stability,” the assertion stated.
The assertion expressed critical concern over the provocations and reiterated the DPRK’s stance of “more intensively” exercising the precise to self-defense to guard its sovereign rights and safety pursuits.
