New Delhi [India], March 5 (ANI): A 17-year-old woman misplaced her life after an enormous hearth broke out on Thursday within the densely populated Bangali Basti Jhuggi in Rithala Village, Delhi hearth officers stated.
The incident occurred within the densely populated jhuggi (slum) space, usually known as Bengali Basti, situated between the metro station and Delhi Jal Board premises.
According to Delhi Fire Services, a PCR name (DD No. 14A) was obtained at PS Budh Vihar concerning the fireplace. Police and PCR groups promptly reached the spot, evacuating residents from affected jhuggis to stop additional casualties.
‘On 05/03/2026, a PCR name (DD No. 14A) was obtained at PS Budh Vihar concerning a fireplace at Bangali Basti Jhuggi, Rithala Village, Delhi. Police and PCR groups reached the spot promptly and evacuated residents from the affected jhuggis to stop additional casualties. Around 10-15 hearth brigade automobiles and 8-10 ambulances had been deployed, and the world was cordoned off to help rescue and firefighting operations,’ DFS stated.
The DFS stated that the deceased has been recognized as Rozina Khatun, aged roughly 17 years and a resident of Jhuggi close to Surya Hotel, Rithala, Delhi.
‘During the incident, the charred physique of a 17-year-old woman, Rozina Khatun D/o Hanaf Laskar, R/o Kh. No. 202, Jhuggi close to Surya Hotel, Rithala, Delhi, aged about 17 years, was recovered and brought to BSA Hospital, the place she was declared introduced lifeless. The physique was later shifted to the mortuary for authorized proceedings. An FIR No. 85/26 underneath Sections 287/125(a)/106 BNS has been registered at PS Budh Vihar. The hearth is now largely underneath management, firefighting operations are ongoing, and the reason for the fireplace is but to be decided,’ DFS added.
The blaze, which broke out round 4:15 AM close to Rithala Metro Station, gutted over 50 shanties, marking the second deadly hearth within the space inside 4 months.
A fast response from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) noticed 15 hearth tenders rush to the scene to include the flames.
Officials confirmed that the fireplace was introduced underneath management after a while of intense firefighting efforts.
DFS officers said that the reason for the fireplace is underneath investigation. (ANI)
