TOKYO –
A 37-year-old gang member recognized in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district by the nickname “Crazy” has been arrested on suspicion of robbing and injuring a teenage woman close to Shinjuku Station after threatening her with what gave the impression to be an ice choose.
Ryuji Okoshi, a member of an organized crime group, was arrested on suspicion of theft leading to damage. As he was being escorted out of Shinjuku Police Station, Okoshi shouted at reporters, saying, “What are you filming? Hey! What are you filming? Don’t film me without permission!”
The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. in April 2026 at a plaza in entrance of the east exit of Shinjuku Station.
According to police, Okoshi turned concerned in a dispute with a teenage woman who had come to Tokyo and was among the many so-called Toyoko children, younger individuals who collect across the Toyoko space of Kabukicho. He allegedly slapped the woman within the face after which pressed an object resembling an ice choose towards her abdomen, threatening her by saying, “I might stab you.”
Okoshi is suspected of taking the woman’s backpack, which contained a cell phone, money and different gadgets, and inflicting her damage by making her fall.
Police stated Okoshi was recognized within the Toyoko space of Kabukicho as “Crazy.”
During questioning, Okoshi reportedly stated, “I will talk after consulting with my lawyer.”
Okoshi has been arrested 3 times since April 2026 in reference to stimulant-related circumstances and different issues. The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating further allegations, together with suspicions that he had a number of ladies use stimulants.
