BEIJING, June 6 (Xinhua) — China’s yuan weakened in opposition to a basket of currencies in May, based on the China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS).
At the top of May, the CFETS yuan change fee composite index, which measures the yuan’s energy relative to a basket of currencies, edged down 1.07 p.c from the top of April to 98.46, based on the CFETS.
The index compares the yuan with the worth of 24 currencies, together with the U.S. dollar, euro, and Japanese yen.
Last month, the index measuring the yuan in opposition to the Bank for International Settlements forex basket dropped 0.98 p.c month on month to 102.87.
The index measuring the yuan in opposition to the Special Drawing Rights basket went down 0.92 p.c from the earlier month to 94.43.
