China's weekly export container delivery index down

SHANGHAI, April 2 (Xinhua) — China’s index of export container transport declined within the week ending on March 31, based on the Shanghai Shipping Exchange.

The common China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) went down 1.9 p.c to 958.43 from the earlier week, based on the trade.

The sub-index for the Japan service led the lower with a week-on-week drop of 8.1 p.c.

Bucking the pattern, the sub-reading for the Persian Gulf/Red Sea service rose 5.9 p.c from per week earlier.

The CCFI tracks spot and contractual freight charges from Chinese container ports for 12 delivery routes throughout the globe, based mostly on knowledge from 22 worldwide carriers.

The index was set at 1,000 on Jan. 1, 1998.
