China’s home retail gross sales of toys up 3.3 pct in 2022

SHANGHAI, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) — Retail gross sales of toys in China’s home market reached 88.31 billion yuan (about 12 billion U.S. {dollars}) in 2022, a rise of three.3 % in comparison with the earlier 12 months.

The determine was launched on Tuesday on the ongoing China Toy Expo, being held in Shanghai.

Last 12 months, toy (excluding video games) exports reached 48.36 billion U.S. {dollars}, recording a 5.6 % improve in comparison with the earlier 12 months.

Among the main export markets for Chinese toys, Japan moved up from third place to second spot in 2022, with an export worth of two.41 billion U.S. {dollars}, a rise of 33.8 % over the earlier 12 months.

The United States continued to be China’s largest toy export market, with an export worth of 13.08 billion U.S. {dollars}, however this was a 2.9 % lower in comparison with a 12 months earlier.

In the Chinese home market, gross sales of each child bottles and youngsters’s strollers achieved progress final 12 months, based on the China Toy and Juvenile Products Association, with retail gross sales totaling 6.65 billion yuan and 14.78 billion yuan, respectively, representing slight will increase of 1.1 % and 1.9 % over the earlier 12 months.
