BOJ governor Ueda faces first day in workplace

TOKYO, Apr 10 (NHK) –
Japan’s first new central financial institution governor in 10 years headed to the workplace for the primary time on Monday.

The 71-year-old economics professor Ueda Kazuo is succeeding Kuroda Haruhiko.

Ueda is a former Bank of Japan policy-board member and the primary post-war governor to come back from academia. The prime BOJ official and deputy governors serve five-year phrases.

Ueda has expressed in Diet testimony that he intends to proceed the central financial institution’s financial easing coverage. He stated the steps are wanted to assist Japan’s financial system and can encourage wage hikes to realize a value stability goal of two % inflation.
