Aurora police officer fired after home violence arrest

The Aurora Police Department fired a patrolman on Monday after he was arrested final week in reference to a home violence incident.

Aurora officer Philip Sullivan was arrested Wednesday on a misdemeanor cost of third-degree assault after an incident at his dwelling in Westminster, in response to an Aurora police news launch posted on X.com. Sullivan additionally was charged with harassment, obstruction, resisting arrest, failure to go away a premis and prohibited use of a weapon, in response to the news launch.

Sullivan was employed as a patrolman in January, the news launch mentioned. The division is conducting an inner administrative investigation.

“The charges and behavior alleged in this case are extremely troubling and run counter to the values of the Aurora Police Department,” Aurora police chief Todd Chamberlain mentioned in a press release. “We have zero tolerance for conduct that undermines public trust and victimizes others.”

The home violence incident is being dealt with by the Westminster Police Department. Efforts to succeed in a Westminster police spokesman on Monday evening have been unsuccessful.
