Angel City FC midfielder Hina Sugita will miss the remainder of the 2026 NWSL season with a torn left ACL, the membership stated Tuesday.
‘Hina is a world class athlete and teammate,’ head coach Alex Straus stated. ‘We are devastated for her, however know she’s going to carry the identical focus and dedication to her rehab as she does on the pitch. The total crew and membership are behind her. We are ready to assist her on her street to restoration and look ahead to having her again.’
The crew didn’t say when Sugita sustained the damage. She didn’t play when Angel City opened the season with a 4-0 residence win Sunday towards the Chicago Stars.
Sugita, 29, made 4 appearances (all begins) for ACFC final season after arriving in a September commerce with the Portland Thorns.
Internationally, Sugita has earned 51 caps with the Japanese nationwide crew whereas competing in two FIFA Women’s World Cups (2019, 2023).
