BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) — The field workplace takings of the animation “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” has totaled 118 million yuan (about 17 million U.S. {dollars}) on the Chinese mainland, China Film News reported Wednesday.
As of Sunday, the movie was the highest-grossing movie on the worldwide field workplace chart this 12 months, with a complete income of 678 million U.S. {dollars}, the newspaper stated.
The field workplace income on the Chinese mainland in the course of the week spanning April 10 to 16 totaled 350 million yuan.
The home motion comedy “Ride On” topped the weekly field workplace chart, taking in 75 million yuan. The movie, starring kung fu actors Jackie Chan and Wu Jing, pays tribute to stunt actors, who typically work in dangerous situations.
It was adopted by the Chinese adaptation of the traditional Japanese household drama “Hachiko,” which raked in about 55 million yuan in the course of the interval.
