Michihiro Ishibashi, a member of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, stated, “It is clear that the former aide to the prime minister put pressure on him from the standpoint of the prime minister’s official residence.” I would love the Kishida administration to at the least state that the prime minister’s workplace is not going to distort the interpretation of the Broadcast Law.”
In response, Prime Minister Kishida said, “It is true that there was an exchange, but I understand that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, which has jurisdiction over the matter, was responsible for the interpretation. I would like to continue to work appropriately in the current Cabinet.”
