An emu that escaped from the house of a touring zoo operator was captured after wandering by means of a residential neighborhood in Moriyama, Shiga Prefecture, on September 23, following a police report from a resident who mistook the chicken for an ostrich.
Police acquired a name shortly earlier than 7 a.m. reporting that an ostrich was roaming the neighborhood. Officers recognized the escaped chicken as an emu stored by somebody concerned in a close-by touring zoo, and it was captured roughly two hours later.
According to the zoo operator, each emus and ostriches had been stored as pets and allowed to roam freely within the backyard of the operator’s dwelling.
Police are investigating how the emu managed to flee.
