Takaichi Says Gasoline Prices Will Remain Around 170 Yen Per Liter

Prime Minister Takaichi stated the federal government will proceed utilizing subsidies to maintain the nationwide common gasoline worth at round 170 yen per liter, drawing on reserve funds put aside to answer developments within the Middle East.

“We have decided to use reserve funds for responding to the Middle East situation and other developments to continue keeping the nationwide average gasoline price at around 170 yen per liter,” Takaichi stated.

The authorities has been offering subsidies since March 19 below an emergency price-relief measure launched in response to surging crude oil costs brought on by heightened tensions within the Middle East.

The program is designed to carry the nationwide common retail worth of gasoline at round 170 yen per liter.

Takaichi stated the federal government will use reserve funds to keep up the measure and has instructed the finance minister and the financial system, commerce and business minister to take the required steps.
