According to the Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office, the assembly was attended by Karnataka Deputy CM G Parameshwara, Water Resources Minister Ramalinga Reddy, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, Director General of Police (DGP) Saleem Ahmed, together with senior bureaucrats and cops.
CWMA, which met in New Delhi on Thursday, upheld the advice of the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee directing Karnataka to launch 3,500 cusecs of water per day to Tamil Nadu, with a complete launch of 4 TMC advisable over 15 days.
Meanwhile, the Centre has returned the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Mekedatu Balancing Reservoir-cum-Drinking Water Project to the Karnataka Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Raj Bhushan Chaudhary knowledgeable Parliament.
Replying to a query within the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Chaudhary stated, ‘The DPR submitted in 2019 has been returned to the venture authority with the request to submit the revised DPR in compliance with the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal (CWDT) award and as per the extant CWC tips.’
‘The Government of India has taken word of the representations acquired from the Government of Tamil Nadu and farmers’ organisations expressing issues relating to the doable impacts of the proposed venture on the Cauvery Delta area, together with ingesting water availability in different districts,’ he stated.
