A Normal Heights resident who allegedly attacked a tenant of his with a baseball bat throughout an argument early Thursday refused to depart his dwelling when police arrived, prompting an hours-long standoff that lastly ended after the suspect was arrested.
The alleged assault — which was reported within the 4800 block of thirty fifth Street, a block and a half off Adams Avenue in Normal Heights — occurred at round 6:30 Thursday morning.
As officers tried to get the suspect to exit his home and provides himself up peaceably, paramedics took the sufferer — who rents a cottage behind the suspect’s dwelling — to a hospital for remedy of non-life-threatening accidents.

The suspect remained barricaded in his dwelling for a minimum of an hour and a half regardless of instructions to give up, police stated. Law enforcement then dispatched particular weapons and techniques personnel to the home, surrounding and taping off the block.
