China on Tuesday marked the 89th anniversary of the start of its whole-nation resistance conflict towards Japanese aggression.
Yin Li, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, presided over a ceremony on the Museum of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression close to the Lugou Bridge, the place the historic Lugou Bridge Incident passed off 89 years in the past.
On July 7, 1937, Japanese troopers attacked Chinese forces on the Lugou Bridge, marking the start of Japan’s full-scale invasion of China and China’s whole-nation resistance towards the Japanese invaders.
At 9 a.m., the ceremony started with China’s nationwide anthem. Poems have been recited and songs have been carried out by college students from the capital to specific the youthful era’s resolve to faithfully comply with the Party, carry ahead the spirit of the heroes and martyrs, and advance China’s modernization.
Attendees provided floral tributes and bowed to pay their respects to those that had laid down their lives in preventing the Japanese aggression.
The ceremony was attended by about 500 individuals, together with relations of army officers and martyrs within the conflict, college students and repair personnel.
