Speaking in Koppal forward of the occasion, MLA Raghavendra Hitnal stated the inauguration was attended by Karnataka Chief Minister D.Ok. Shivakumar, Union Minister for Jal Shakti C.R. Patil, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Minister Revanth Reddy.
Hitnal stated invites had already been prolonged to the chief ministers of the 2 neighbouring states. According to him, MLAs and farmers from 4 districts, Raichur, Koppal, Ballari and Hosapete, participated within the programme.
Commenting on the proposal for a parallel reservoir, Hitnal stated leaders from the 4 districts had mentioned the problem with Chief Minister D.Ok. Shivakumar. He stated the discussions included measures for desilting the dam and proposals for water storage close to Navali. A proposal to assemble a water storage reservoir close to Singatalur was additionally mentioned.
Hitnal additional stated that the chief ministers of the three states would maintain discussions with Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil and take an acceptable choice on the matter.
Speaking after inaugurating 33 spillway gates of the Tungabhadra dam, Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar stated, ‘This is a historic occasion for South India.
