Former Girls Bar Employee Given Suspended Sentence for Forcing Co-Worker Into Prostitution

TOKYO, May 25 (News On Japan) –
A former worker of a ladies bar in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district was sentenced by the Tokyo District Court to 1 12 months and 6 months in jail, suspended for 3 years, and fined 300,000 yen after being convicted of forcing a feminine co-worker into prostitution.

Tano Wakana, 21, a former worker on the ladies bar, had been charged with violating the Anti-Prostitution Act for allegedly forcing one other feminine worker into prostitution along with the bar’s male supervisor.

In the ruling delivered on May twenty fifth, the Tokyo District Court mentioned the sufferer had been unable to withstand as a consequence of violence and different abuse by the male supervisor, and that Tano had instructed the sufferer to interact in prostitution regardless of the circumstances.

The courtroom described the crime as “malicious conduct driven by profit motives with no regard for the victim’s dignity.”

The courtroom cited Tano’s subordinate place underneath the male supervisor as a cause for granting a suspended sentence.
