TOKYO (TR) – As part of an ongoing crackdown, Tokyo Metropolitan Police have raided the headquarters of the Kohei-ikka, a department of the Sumiyoshi-kai yakuza syndicate, reviews Nippon News Network (Apr. 1).
On Wedesday, officers raided the headquarters of Kohei-ikka in Itabashi Ward as part of an investigation into allegations that members kidnapped and assaulted a fellow gangster.
The Kohei-ikka is the biggest yakuza group within the capital. It is believed to be closely concerned in tokushu sagi, or specialised fraud, and drug trafficking. Tokushu sagi is carried out on the phone by a caller impersonating an authority determine or a sufferer’s relative.
Last 12 months, the Sumiyoshi-kai was concerned in roughly 60 % of the particular fraud instances involving yakuza, with about 70 % of these perpetrators being members of the Kohei-ikka.
