ISHIKAWA (TR) – Ishikawa Prefectural Police have referred a male police sergeant in his 30s to prosecutors on suspicion of leaking investigative info to a member of a felony syndicate, stories Fuji News Network (Nov. 22).
The male police sergeant, who belonged to the Criminal Investigation Division, was referred to prosecutors due an inappropriate relationship with a member of the yakuza syndicate, which is a violation of the Local Public Servants Act.
According to police, the sergeant dined at a yakiniku restaurant in mid-June with a member of a felony group who was the topic of an investigation.
The member allegedly paid roughly 10,000 yen for meals and drinks. The sergeant additionally acquired 50,000 yen in money for taxi fare.
The sergeant is then suspected of leaking investigative info to the syndicate utilizing a messaging app on his smartphone.
On November 21, Ishikawa police referred the sergeant to the Kanazawa District Public Prosecutors Office in dismissing him.
The sergeant stated, “I wanted to build a relationship with the criminal organization and use it to help with the investigation.”
