Thief Hits Kyoto’s Toji Temple

KYOTO, Sep 01 (News On Japan) –
Police are investigating a theft at To-ji, a UNESCO World Heritage web site in Kyoto, after an offertory field was discovered lacking. At round 1:50 p.m. on August 30, a monk reported to a close-by police field that the complete offertory field had disappeared.

The picket field, positioned in entrance of Bishamondo Hall on the temple grounds, measures 31 centimeters in top and 46 centimeters in width. It was final confirmed on August 24.

The amount of money inside is unknown, however the field itself is valued at about 200,000 yen. Security digital camera footage exhibits somebody carrying the offertory field away, and police are investigating the case as theft.
