Japan urges U.S. army to stop sexual assaults in Okinawa

Japan’s high authorities spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi on Thursday urged the U.S. army to implement preventive measures concerning additional sexual assaults following a current incident involving a U.S. Marine in Okinawa.

The newest case, wherein the serviceman in his 30s is accused of sexually assaulting and injuring a girl within the southernmost Japan prefecture of Okinawa final November, has induced renewed concern amongst native residents, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi mentioned.

“We will urge U.S. forces in Japan to tighten discipline and fully implement preventive measures,” Hayashi advised a press convention.

Okinawa police referred the sexual assault case to prosecutors on Wednesday, the newest in a collection of violent assaults on girls on the island internet hosting the majority of U.S. army services.
