Aomori Nebuta Festival Opens

Aomori, Aug 03 (News On Japan) –
Northerern Japan’s Aomori Nebuta Festival, which started on August 2, contains a nebuta designed by 14-year-old scholar, titled, ‘Dragon God and Giant Catfish’, devoted to the victims of the Noto Peninsula earthquake.

The competition, believed to have origins within the Tanabata lantern floating custom, marked the primary time a student-designed nebuta was featured. The design was chosen by way of a contest for Aomori City college students and refined by nebuta grasp Ryusei Uchiyama. This initiative goals to foster curiosity in conventional tradition amongst younger individuals. Although plans to run the nebuta within the catastrophe space had been scrapped because of highway circumstances, college students from Ishikawa’s Shika Town had been invited to go to Aomori.
