Utsunomiya hosts parade of kimono via the ages

Utsunomiya, Nov 27 (News On Japan) –
An occasion that includes ladies clad in kimonos from previous, current, and future eras paraded via the streets of Utsunomiya on Sunday.

Named “Miyaran Procession,” a twist on the normal “Oiran Dōchū” parade, this occasion was organized by a second-hand kimono store in Utsunomiya City, aimed toward offering alternatives to put on kimonos and to move the tradition right down to future generations.

The theme for this occasion was “From Ancient to Modern Times.” Women showcased not solely up to date Furisode kimonos but additionally these replicating Oiran from over 100 years in the past, in addition to artistic interpretations of what kimonos may appear to be 100 years into the long run.
