1st LD: nineteenth Chinese American movie, TV festivals kick off in LA

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) — The nineteenth Chinese American Film Festival and the Chinese American Television Festival kicked off right here Wednesday night.

Nearly 1,000 contributors gathered within the Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel for the cultural occasion, which goals to advertise movie and tv business exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States.

This 12 months’s festivals obtained over 500 movie and tv entries. A complete of 10 movies received the Golden Angel Award on the occasion, together with “No More Bets,” “Lost in Stars,” “Hidden Blade,” “Manifesto,” and “Face in the Crowd.”

Four American films received the Most Popular U.S. Film in China Award, together with Disney Pictures’ “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” Universal Pictures’ “Fast X,” Paramount Pictures’ “Transformers: Rise of the Beats” and Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse.”

Founded in 2005 by EDI Media Inc., the annual occasion is often held in Los Angeles each November.

The Los Angeles County Office has named November as “Chinese American Film Festival and Chinese American Television Festival Month.”

A collection of panels will likely be held through the festivals, bringing collectively professionals within the Chinese and American movie and tv industries to share their experiences and talk about cooperation.
