An unexploded US bomb from World War II that had been buried at a Japanese airport has exploded, inflicting a big crater in a taxiway and the cancellation of greater than 80 flights however no accidents, Japanese officers say.

Land and Transport Ministry officers mentioned there have been no plane close by when the bomb exploded at Miyazaki Airport in southwestern Japan.
