U.S. dollar rises modestly after prior session's weak spot

NEW YORK, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar edged up in late buying and selling on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the dollar in opposition to six main friends, elevated 0.09 p.c to 112.1310, following a 1.13 p.c drop within the prior session.

In late New York buying and selling on Tuesday, the euro was as much as 0.9853 U.S. {dollars} from 0.9850 {dollars} within the earlier session, and the British pound decreased to 1.1317 U.S. {dollars} from 1.1363 {dollars} within the earlier session. The Australian dollar elevated to 0.6295 U.S. {dollars} from 0.6294 {dollars}.

The U.S. dollar purchased 149.19 Japanese yen, greater than 148.89 Japanese yen of the earlier session. The U.S. dollar was all the way down to 0.9951 Swiss francs from 0.9957 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3780 Canadian {dollars} from 1.3721 Canadian {dollars}.
