U.S. dollar climbs amid Ukraine tensions

NEW YORK, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar appreciated in late buying and selling on Friday as market contributors monitored updates on the Ukraine disaster.

The dollar index, which measures the buck in opposition to six main friends, rose 0.26 p.c at 96.0440.

In late New York buying and selling, the euro fell to 1.1337 U.S. {dollars} from 1.1368 {dollars} within the earlier session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3605 {dollars} from 1.3624 U.S. {dollars} within the earlier session.
