Toyota has begun promoting autos produced within the United States and “reverse-imported” into Japan following Japan-U.S. negotiations over the Trump administration’s tariffs.
Toyota unveiled the “Tundra” pickup truck and the “Highlander” SUV on May 18th, each manufactured within the United States and imported again into Japan.
The reverse-import initiative turned potential after import procedures have been simplified in February this 12 months as a part of efforts to cut back the United States’ commerce deficit. Sales of the fashions started final month.
Yasuyuki Arai of Toyota Mobility Tokyo mentioned the Tundra is commonly used for towing giant gadgets and leisure actions.
The Tundra is priced at 12 million yen together with tax, whereas the Highlander is priced at 8.6 million yen together with tax. Both fashions are scheduled to go on sale nationwide after the summer season.
