TOKYO, April 24 (Xinhua) — The Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) is anticipated to increase its buying and selling day by half-hour, beginning in November 2024, in accordance with a report by public broadcaster NHK on Monday.
The bourse will replace its stock buying and selling system to vary its closing time to three:30 p.m. from Nov. 5, 2024, in a bid to spice up its world competitiveness, the report stated.
The present buying and selling hours begin at 9 a.m. and finish at 3 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break from 11:30 a.m., that are shorter than these of main markets abroad.
The TSE goals to draw extra buyers with the change. The TSE lags behind different exchanges within the United States and China by way of complete capitalization of listed firms, the NHK report stated.
It would be the first extension to the TSE’s buying and selling hours in 70 years since 1954.
