TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 57-year-old man who’s suspected of repeatedly stealing gadgets and defrauding the house owners of finder’s charges, stories TV Asahi (Jan. 5).
Last October, Mitsuyoshi Nakai, of no recognized occupation, is suspected of stealing a person’s smartphone from a restaurant in Koto Ward. He then returned it to a police station and demanded fee of 5,000 yen in money from the proprietor as a reward.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of fraud, Nakai denied the fees. He stated, “I simply picked up something that I found and reported it to the police station, and it is my right to receive the reward payment.”
According to the Fukagawa Police Station, Nakai stole the smartphone whereas the person was away from his desk.
The crime got here to gentle when the proprietor, upon handing over the reward fee, observed that Nakai resembled an individual seen in safety digital camera footage on the restaurant.
Nakai has reported misplaced gadgets to police stations in Tokyo greater than 60 instances. Tokyo police are investigating the connection.
