Taxi Driver in Pigeon Hit-and-Run Case Escapes Charges

TOKYO, Jan 18 (News On Japan) –
The Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office has determined to not prosecute a taxi driver who was arrested for killing a pigeon on a avenue in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo.

The taxi driver, a 50-year-old man, was arrested final November on suspicion of violating the Wildlife Protection Law by working over a pigeon on a avenue in Shinjuku Ward together with his taxi.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, a passerby known as the emergency quantity 110 after listening to a taxi dashing off after which noticing it had hit a pigeon.

During the investigation, the driving force acknowledged, “The road is for humans, so the pigeons should get out of the way.”

The Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office selected Tuesday to not prosecute the person. The causes for this determination haven’t been disclosed.
