NARA, Mar 04 (News On Japan) –
The sacred water-drawing “Omizutori” pageant has begun at Nara’s Todaiji Temple as a part of the two-week-long Shuni-e ceremony.
The “Omizutori” at Todaiji’s Nigatsu-do Hall is a convention courting again to the Nara interval, held to wish for peace and happiness. During the “Otaimatsu”, monks run via the corridor carrying blazing torches which might be about 6 meters lengthy and weigh round 40 kilograms.
This 12 months marks the primary time in 4 years that the ceremony shall be totally open to the general public on all days.
The “Otaimatsu” will proceed each evening till March 14.
